Halloween 2015

We had a perfectly lovely time in Wonderland this Halloween...

Prissy was Alice..  Joey was the Mad Hatter {and won for overall adult theme costume at the clubhouse party}.  Me- I was the Queen of hearts.  Although after a baseball game, frantically making a lunch, getting costumes together {with makeup and eyelashes}, making party snacks, blowing up 50 black and orange balloons, finding the caps that I had promised my little cowboy, then meeting the pizza guy up at the club house and MCing the party... I was a tired Queen.... but Queen non-the-less :)

 This year we went el-cheap-o on our costumes.
 Joey and I robbed the costume trunk so ours were free :)

Prissy spent her $20 on a wig and tights and eyelashes- ha ha!

A-man went complete rogue on us...
 A cowboy in Wonderland?
NO!
He spent his $20 on a new cap riffle!!

Hello gorgeous....

It's {dare I say it} FALL here in the Carolina's y'all!!  I can hardly stand myself.  I LOVE everything about it... the clothes, the fact that I can finally serve soup to my family without an apology {because I make it even when it's 100 degrees- smiles}, football- my hubby mostly but, I can rock a collegiate hoodie like it's my job! leaves {can I get an AMEN}, and break {YES... I adore my kiddos school for many reasons- they are getting an incredible education while hearing sound biblical truths, and.... they get 2 weeks off during October!!!!  We escaped to the mountains again and it was glorious.  Cooner even said my voice sounded better.  There is just something magical about real burning fire places and cabins that is medicinal for my soul. More on our trip later but I tasted one of the best soups EVER created at a little eatery called "Over Yonder" in Valle Crucis.

I'm trying to recreate the blessed thing this minute...

I've gotten all of my fur out... And I might have clipped some fall hydrangeas at the cabin and I might have begged my husband to take them home....

And if I did?  I might put have some in the dining room and added some feathers :)

thankfulness...

We are on Fall break over here at Harris house- it might be my very FAVORITE break of all!  We are basking in the sunshine {it rained here for years until Tuesday}.   I've been cooking up a storm.... my new tomato basil soup with pimento cheese is now going into the fall rotation.  They loved it- praise the Lord.  And THANK YOU vitamix for making all the vegetables disappear so my littles would ask for seconds- I {heart} you!  This is becoming a season of thankfulness around here.  I'm hard pressed to "help" my littles see the good and the goodness in all the things all around us.  We are shopping the house to put together Halloween costumes.  And I'm trying to savor these times when my dining room table is so full of legos that we can hardly see the top let alone have a meal.   And my car looks like one where the Beverly Hillbillies meet Dance Moms!  When we complain {and we often do}.. Joey asks us to quickly say 5 things we are thankful for.  Here goes:

#1 Jesus!
{who is good when I am not}

#2 my precious Jo-bo-baby
{who makes me cry with his constant love for us}

#3 my littles
{whom I adore more than any momma ought to be allowed}

#4 my health
{just waking up is a gift!}

#5  my Cooner
{I had another day with her!}
