Our Princess and Prince Suites

Today I am joining in on the "Show Us Your Life" tour over at Kelly's Korner.  Prissy & A-man's rooms just happen to be 2 of my favorite in our house!!!  Prissy's was once our playroom in the above the garage bonus room.  It has the sparest of spare rooms {Pollyanna-like} feel to it & that adds a charm that is perfect for my sweet girl!!!!!

*****

I had to have a crystal chandelier for her room.... every girl needs sparkle!!!  It was the 1st purchase that I made for her nursery & we moved it upstairs to her big-girl room right along with her.

*****

Another little add-on {along with the hardwoods & sliding doors over the skylights- WONDERFUL idea if you have them} was making this little closet/armoire.  I sketched out a picture for our builder & it came to life... {I added the moldings & crystal door knobs afterwards}

*****

Inside holds a multitude of sins....  hair bows, shoes, and lots of other fancy things!!!!  And it is on casters and can me moved to either side of the room- which works out well cause her crazy Momma loves to move furniture A LOT!!!!

*****

And... my little girl loves crafts almost as much as her Momma!  She needs her own desk to house ALL of her supplies {that I sometimes borrow}!  I picked this desk up for $20.00 at a tag sale.  It matches the rest of her set {that was once mine... long long ago, in a kingdom far far away}.

*****

I found this little bed at another estate sale {her room is about 90% treasure hunt finds}.  It has a better mattress than our bed {the things we do for our kiddos}, but I have peace knowing that my little Princess & our company have the best- wink wink!!!!  Also I love the little dressing screen in the back of the photo- that's where my Princess changes & plays the keyboard...

*****

Her bookcase {$5 find from Cooner -painted out Jersey Cream to match the rest of her furniture} is filled full of books from American Girl - Fancy Nancy - The Secret Garden - Little Women... but you can't see them.  I made this little curtain to hid them and make the room a little more grown-up & fancy....

*****

Another view with the pink silk curtains {also from her nursery}- yet another reason why NOT to go with a theme that can NOT grow with them.  I love these cabbage roses & pinks & silks just as much as I did 9 years ago.....  I can't believe that it's been 9 years...

*****

My latest tag sale find- precious armoire for $20.00!  It is stuffed FULL of ALL things girly.....  I give it credit for being the main reason that her room stays so clean :)

*****

My A-man's Quarters were once the nursery.... it is a much smaller room, but I assure you just as much magic takes place here!!!!  His bed I found at a tag sale too {surprise surprise}!  I was dead against him getting a "car bed" even though Joey was ready to add one to the Amazon cart just as soon as we found out we were having a boy!!!  It is iron, super cute, fits a twin mattress, low to the ground.... ALL the things that make my heart go Vroom Vroom!!!

*****

His ONLY request is for a place to show off his treasures = Star Wars Legos.  So this little bookcase {$20 at a flea market} is the perfect solution.  It is low enough for him to pick & choose and just the right size to fit on this odd shaped little wall...

*****

I ordered this little chandelier off of ebay when I was on bed rest.  Joey was against a boy having a chandelier.... Not to worry folks- {a little brown spray paint and some match box cars painted to match & glued on.  Then a smidge of blue craft paint to brighten it up a bit} = makes it boyish enough to pass- wink wink!!!!!

*****

And what little boy room would be complete without an arsenal of weapons..... We've got ya covered is your forget yours!!!!!!  This little galvanized barrel is perfect for swords, light sabers, & nerf guns!

*****

This is one of 2 "new" pieces that I bought for the room {the other being the little leather club reading chair from Target}.  I had our neighbor/carpenter convert the bottom 3 shelves into drawers.  The top is... well for Lego storage {along with 2 sliding rubbermaid containers under his bed}...

*****

His closet is tight.... I painted his sister's pink dollhouse bookshelf brown and called it a "fort" he loved the idea.  Now he has a special place for his cars, G I Joes, Automoblox, and other treasures.....

*****

I love the "old world" feel of this canvas U.S. map above his bed.  It sorta ties together all of the car bedding & is a focal statement.  I have an itch to change his room soon- so stay tuned...

*****

... and let me just say- I have the best memories in these 2 little rooms!!!  I still come in several times a night to check on my little joys {my kiddos NOT my tag sale finds- ha ha}!!!
Thanks for stopping by..... can't wait to see your little rooms!!

Can it be time already.....

surely not???  Well Y'all this very morning around 6:30ish...  my A-man woke me up to- "Momma just  pull it... pull it out!"  I did just that, minus the theatrics that usually comes with Prissy losing teeth.  He backed away from me 2 steps then closed his eyes and said "hurry up & get it Momma!"  Joey tried to cheer us on {from the next room- ha ha}- he isn't much for blood or fingernails or toenails or stuff like that.  It all happened so fast, I didn't even know he had a loose tooth until yesterday.  Although he has been wiggling the little boogers since he heard that $ comes with every tooth {and he equates $ with more Legos}.  He then proceeded to wake up Prissy & Cooner!

*****

And so... tonight I dug out the little green tooth that I got when Prissy went to her 1st dentist appt {about 6 years ago}.  See I'm a tiny bit neurotic and hoped to someday have a second child... and when she chose a pink one for her... I asked for a second one {to match hers for a possible future sibling}.  I'm sick - I know - it's who I am - no apologies - NO excuses!!!  Anyway, A-man is over the moon about the whole thing!  And as for me.... I'm sad inside.

*****

**Cooner update- Her right arm looks amazing- no more bandages & she can use that hand as usual.  Her left arm/hand is getting there.  I am leaving off the bandages tonight since the open areas are scabbed and covered- infection risks are much lower.  She showered tonight un-assisted- YEAH Cooner.  Her chest area is still pretty angry, but we are praising God for his work so far. THANK YOU for your sweet calls, prayers, cards, & love sent our way!  She is doing amazingly well... swallowing every pill {advice} that her nurse {daughter} gives her!!!!!!!!**

dining room tour...

Today... I'm cleaning up from our latest overnighters {my brother & his kiddos came for a few days}.  And while I'm getting the bed clothes changed and the beach towels washed.... I took a few photos of the dining room for the Kelly's Korner tour- so fun!!!!!

*****

This little buffet {or dresser} was the prefect little catch all for extra table linens, my Grandmother's Silver flatware, & candles.  It also serves as a show case from some of my favorite Paris Flea Market finds from last summer.  The antique milk bottles in the original rack and the little Paris plate from the World's Fair- Je t'aime!!!!

*****

The chandelier was a labor of love... Once brassy gold turned black with rub-a-gold details.  Catherine & I even added the crystals to make it a focal piece for the room {after all- the dining room is just off of the foyer}.

*****

The little build in hutch houses my collection of ironstone & "ironstone-like" pieces ha ha!!  I have NO discrimination... when I see white I am drawn to it!!!

*****

I really love having a variety of seating in here.  The 2 end slipcovered beauties came from Ikea, the 2 rose wood chairs were from a tag sale {I distressed them & covered the seats with ticking fabric}, and the bench is an old church pew- perfect for our little people!!! {And the rug came from Craig's List $55 - originally from Pottery barn $299}.

*****

I have 2 of these girls {weighing in at about 50 lbs a piece} flanking the door to the kitchen.  They are a little quirky but I think every room needs a bit of that- ha ha!!

*****

That's it- now I'm off to do dressing changes on my sweet burned victim.  Yep Cooner has become a bit of a permeant house guest for a time.... She had a canning/pressure cooking accident last Monday & is recovering here with us.  She doesn't want me to go on and on.... but PLEASE keep her in your prayers sweet friends!!!!!!!

father's day fun!

This year the kiddos and I celebrated Father's day a teeny bit early with Joey.  He went on a boy trip to Utah with his college buddies & we got him some fun stuff for the trip.... Ya know new bike, new shoes, snacks.... stuff like that!  But... we couldn't let this day go without making him something special {y'all now we hate celebrating around here- ha ha}.  Prissy made him a coupon book filled with dates with her and chores like: washing his car, watching A-man while he does yard work {that one made me chuckle- they swing while he mows}, ice cream date {another chuckle- I guess he's buying}, and several others.  He is a lucky man!

*****

I helped the A-man make him something "special from scratch" too. We started out by tracing his hands- I {heart} his chunky monkey hands....

*****

On one hand we wrote 'I love you'

*****

in the middle we wrote 'this much"

*****

Then finished it off with A-man's little signature....
I told y'all he's a lucky man!!  My A-man adores him more than I can express to you!!!!

*****

Then I played around with the paper {an 11x4 piece}.  I folded in in half-
Next I  cut in about 3/4 inch across each side 1 inch down the top..

*****

Then I made a little tie pattern...

*****

Lastly- I folded the tabs in, glued on the tie, and  added some buttons-
 TA DA!!!
Happy Father's Day
to the sweetest, best husband & famed father to my kiddos!
 We ADORE you!!!!

...and

Happy Father's Day
to Papaw- we ADORE you too!!!

Guest Cottage....

Today we are getting ready for our second wave of company for the summer- YAY!  I am sprucing up the "Guest Cottage" as I like to affectionately call it.  You may know it as: the work room, the office, the "fun bed" room, or the sewing room {located in the walk-in closet off of the actual room- gasp}!

*****

You may remember this little nightstand that I picked up for $4.
It looks precious paired with the other whitewashed pieces all around.

*****

The desk & chair are tag sale finds turned treasures {to me}.
And the gallery wall in a work in progress...

*****

The bookshelf- another tag sale find.
I love that it has a bit of history with it's little nooks.
And I am always looking for storage.

*****

This trunk houses extra blankets for company and acts an another nightstand.

*****

And what guest room would be complete without a birdcage filled with gift wrap- haha.  The people that stay at our home- expect such antics from me.  I assure you :)

*****

I do love it- like the other little rooms in our house that make it a home!  I have poured my heart out in the pillows & Cooner made the little patch work duvet cover for the daybed {formerly known as the medical cot}.

*****

Thanks for stopping by from Kelly's Korner- I can't wait to get some inspiration from y'all!!!

back from the beach...

Well... we are back from the beach. This year Grandma Harris & her sweet friend Ms. Peggy joined us {and my kiddos may never be the same- ha}.  In true vacation fashion- we ate out {a lot}, shopped {a lot}, swam {a lot}, & were entertained both on stage & at the beach house {a lot}.

*****

Grandma Harris treated us to a show at the Pirates Voyage.  We {Joey & myself included} loved everything from the pre-show to the competitions to the meal to the atmosphere- SO FUN!!!  And as you can see Prissy enjoyed herself too- the make-up portion most of all!!

*****

A-man loved seeing the pirates fighting, the flame juggling guy & cheering on the "Crimson Crew"
 A hoy!!

*****

The weather was absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!

*****

The kiddos are at such great ages for vacations!  I am loving this stage.  And Joey loves having some beach/sand partners....

*****

My A-man adored having his daddy all day & night- they are the best of buds & that makes my heart smile :)

*****

... his masterpiece with the help of {Grandma Harris, Ms. Peggy, Prissy, & Myself}.  What we do for our A-man......

*****

A-man loved the attention from Grandma Harris too...
THANK YOU Grandma Harris!!
We ALL had a great time during your visit!!!!!!
