{Star Wars B-day} In A Galaxy Not So Far Away.....

...a little Jedi's dream came true! He & his buddies embarked on the adventure of a lifetime- The Jedi Training Academy! The young Padawans were shown to their seats, given robes, given Jedi badges, & instructed on the ways of the Jedi.  They listened intently on how to "accept defeat like a Jedi, win with honor like a Jedi, & most of ALL show self control like a Jedi."  I explained how the Academy was composed of 6 events in which stars would be awarded after each event.  Upon completion of the program each would receive their certificate.

*****

We started off with a "Feel of the Force".  I wanted to see how well the little Padawans knew the Republic & the Dark Side.  They were shown pictures of everything from characters to ships- prizes were given to ALL!!  Then they got to use "The Force" & try to move objects....

*****

Next we tested their skills with Jedi blasters during the "Stormtrooper Shootout".  They were given loaded blasters & were asked to shoot as many Stormtroopers as they could with 3 darts.  My little Jedi took first place! Proud of him, I was!!!!!!!

*****

Next I showed the Younglings the "Obstacle Course" that they would forge through to earn their next star!!

*****

A-man was the first time to beat!

*****

They jumped, rolled, crawled, swerved, & tiptoed to the finish line!

*****

Next we settled down for some "Galactic Grub".   Yoda Soda, Jar Jar Links in a Blanket, Good Guy GrapeSabers, Vader Veggies, Droid Chips, Wookie Cookies, Chocolates Credits.... and more!!

*****

They loved the fun food, but were eager to finish the mission....

*****

After settling down {a bit} they were asked to try to use the Force & find some hidden things.... Like Ewoks!!!  And what better place to find an Ewok than a hut!!!!!

*****

Then we moved on to an VERY important part of their training- "Rescuing Princess Leia".  They were given dozens of balloons & had to pop them to find a hidden picture of Leia inside. I could feel the force getting VERY strong during this mission- ha ha!!!

*****

Next we got to the most coveted portion of their training- "The Lightsaber Training".  Here Master Jedi Joey taught the Younglings all about the Lightsaber & each of them were given one & quickly mastered the techniques...

*****

Then.... a great disturbance was felt in the Force!  All of a sudden Darth Vader & Darth Maul appeared {cue the scary dun dun dun... dun da dun dun da dun}!!!!  The kids retreated {at first} then remembered their training & defeated the Dark Side!!!!!

*****

Next {after defeating the Dark Side} we decided to finish off the Academy Training with "Destroying the Death Star".  The Younglings took turns whacking the piñata.  In the end, astroids {or Easter eggs} filled with stickers & covered with aluminum foil along with candy came barreling out.  One of the "astroids" held a picture of Darth Vader & that lucky Padawan WON the prize!!!

*****

Finally we sang & cut the cake....
Isn't he precious- those chunky cheeks look more like 3 than 5 to his Momma!!!

*****

It was a labor of love.  I had never made an R2D2 cake before {or used fondant for that matter}.  But- it turned out cute & my Jedi Knight & his Padawan friends were thrilled with it!!!

*****

All the Padawans graduated {in case you were wondering}.  They showed the true meaning of being a Jedi & ALL held the order very bravely!!!!!!!!  Master Jedi Joey presented the certificates &... I cried!  I love happy endings!!!!!!!!!!

*****

Then.... we opened  presents.  And as if the party wasn't enough for him to handle... He opened this- The Death Star!!!!!  He had told Cooner that "it is impossible to get The Death Star" & she insisted that it "absolutely wasn't impossible!".  BIG thank you to Cooner, Papaw, Grandma Harris, Uncle Travis, Jaylee, Tucker, Uncle Jeff, Aunt Carol, Tyler, Allison, Aunt Kristy, Uncle Dean, & Corbin for helping us make this dream come true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*****

And I could NOT have pulled this off without the help of my sweet {super cute} Jedi Hubby, Prissy, Cooner & Papaw- I love you guys & I sense that the Force if VERY strong in you!!!!!!

{and then he was 5...}

He is worn completely out {as we ALL are}.   He is dreaming no doubt all about today, the party, his Jedi buddies, & the Death Star.   And... He is 5!  He had the "best party ever in his whole life" today & I can't wait to tell y'all all about it!! But for tonight I'm gonna relish in the fact that my sweet little sweaty headed, brown eyed baby boy is completely undeniably the happiest little 5 year old boy in this galaxy!!!

{SCCS Cake Auction...}

is tonight! Yesterday the A-man & I made the 3 layers of homemade dark chocolate cake & the milk & dark chocolate curls {A LOT of them}!

*****

Today we made the homemade chocolate butter cream frosting {adored by ALL @ Harris house as you can see}!!

*****

We started with layer #1. Then added the frosting & milk chocolate curls.
**putting down strips of wax paper makes it MUCH easier to ice & leaves your cake stand pretty in the end**

*****

Layer #2- ahhhh I wish you could smell our house this morning. It makes we want to lick the walls!!!

*****

We added layer #3- then I iced it... GENEROUSLY!

*****

And added some of these little girls- fancy don't ya think?

*****

But... ribbon makes everything better!

*****

My official taste-tester says "Momma I'm gonna bote {vote} for your cake, even if it is American Girl Dollish!" I love his loyalty!!!!

*****

But... it still needed something extra. After all - we are trying to raise $$ for our school Y'all. We need OVER-THE-TOP right? YES that's better! FEATHERS + more icing on top + dark chocolate curls= PERFECT!!!
**I made the cake stand by gluing a cake plate to a punch cup- total cost $2.00**

*****

The auction is sure to be a HUGE success. Parents & staff have been procuring gifts & prizes for months. And the cakes are gonna be out of sight & Yummy too. It's a win/win. You get a prize & cake. My SIL told me that American Girl donates dolls to schools sometimes as their philanthropy. I took a chance, wrote a letter... and guess what came in the mail 2 weeks ago? YEP an American Girl Doll for the SCCS auction- yippee!! Only problem is- my little girl wants her..... I wonder what lucky family gets to go home with our cake & the doll??? WISH US LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
**And if you live around here- stop by & BID on a cake!!**
