date days... with my boys!

Today... Joey and I had our date day.  One day out of the month he is off during the week for A WHOLE DAY :)  I LOVE date days.  He takes the kids to school, I stay home and do some chores, then we spend the rest of the day together.

This am I finished up 2 more cloches...
which brings my total to 56!
I am only 2 wine glasses away from the promised land- hallelujah .

Then I decided to paint over a quirky print
that I had in the attic for the luncheon too.
Turned out pretty cute and it was FREE :)

Then.....  the school called :(
On the other end I hear
"Mommy, uhm hello... this is Ashton.  Mommy my stomach hurts."

So.. like ones gone mad we jumped in the car to get our precious!  He looked okay.  I felt his head- no fever.  But {against Joey's advice} we stopped at the Peds office for a flu swab {it's the nurse in me...}.  While at the Ped's office he went to potty... the longest pee pee in the world.  "A-man" I asked "when was the last time you went potty?"  "Well... the door, you know the only one with a door Mommy?  It is out of order in the boys bathroom.. so I held it."

I'm happy to report I think we have a little case of:

I drank my entire water bottle.
I held my pee pee all day.
My daddy is home today.
My nose is a little runny.
And.. my daddy is home all day today!

Which brings me to this...
My boy- he got up early to find this last Friday.  He didn't.  He asked me to look.  I did... and found it.  I was so excited I wanted to go to school.  I didn't.  I waited until after school.  He saw it on the counter.  He hugged me neck.  Then he said...  and it makes me tear up just to write this.  "Mommy... I'm gonna call you everyday when I'm grown!"

I cried.  I committed that little voice and those circumstances surrounding the declaration to my memory FOREVER. Then I thought about him.  About how he hears me ask Joey.. "When was the last time you called your mom?  How is she?"  And the "I think she would love to hear from her son" talks that I frequently give around here.  My A-man... he hears these little talks.  He had picked up on the whole moms-like-to-hear-from-their-boys mantra.
